A Scholarship Program for Muslim Girls

“Muslim Women in Leadership” is an initiative designed to celebrate and acknowledge Muslim Women in Canada in significant leadership roles in their respective fields of accomplishment. The main purpose of the event is to raise funds to create a scholarship/ bursary program for Muslim girls at university studying in the fields of arts and media.

This initiative is being lead by Dr. Nozhat Choudry, Vice President, OccuLogix Inc. and Saima Haider, a Sales and Marketing professional in the Pharmaceutical industry. This project is affiliated with the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals and Ryerson Students’ Union.

The first event in our “Muslim Women in Leadership” series will be a High Tea held on April 20, 2008. This event will be open to the general public and is not limited to the Muslim community.

In addition, to the tea featuring high-profile women in leadership as speakers, Muslim women entrepreneurs are invited to participate with trade booths for business promotion purposes. Booths will be set up in the main hall or the corridor directly adjacent to it.

Currently, we are seeking event sponsors for this and future events to continue funding scholarships for Muslim girls on an annual basis.

If you would like to be a part of this amazing opportunity to foster a new generation of Muslim women in leadership, kindly contact Saima Haider (416-356-8836) or Dr. Nozhat Choudry (647-272-0887)
